Human Powered Transportation Association
Practical Urban Transportation Tournament
SAT OCT 23 , 2004
Hosted by the Human Powered Transportation Association
RESULTS AND PICS
Demonstrate your talents as a cyclist in an urban setting doing errands of everyday life.
You will be demonstrating the usefulness of your cycle for daily activities such as shopping and your skills as an urban cyclist.
Bring items such as bungee cords, rope, garbage bags, panniers, drybags, webstrappings, etc that could carry any conceivable load. ( ie eggs, lumber, laundry detergent, potted plants, etc)
The more difficult the loads- the higher the point value.
You should also be prepared to show various aspects of practical urban cycling such as: how to keep the rider and cargo dry, daytime visibility, nighttime visibility, tools for repairs, etc.
You should also be prepared to show your knowledge of safe and legal cycling practices in both a written and practical form.
This tournament is meant to be a showcase of the practicality of cycles and the preparedness of the rider for urban settings. We especially encourage the participation of cyclists of all ages, fitness levels and, levels of disability. ( If you have a special disability that may have to be accomodated - please let us know in advance)
THIS IS NOT A RACE.
PREPARATION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SPEED FOR THIS TOURNAMENT.
